Ethics@noon: Julie Kennedy (Earth Systems)

Professor Kennedy will talk about the apparent disconnect that exists for many people between understanding that global warming is real and is a major threat to lives and livelihoods for others around the world, and taking responsibility by changing personal behaviors that contribute to global warming. She also will talk about her views on the need for an expanded role to be played by universities in teaching students about global change issues.

Julie Kennedy is Assistant Director of and Senior Lecturer in the Earth Systems Program at Stanford. Her interests include Paleoclimatology, organic geochemistry, and El Nino Southern oscillation research.
