Mary Edith Clifford Alumni Dance Concert

The Stanford Dance Division of the Department of Drama presents the 13th annual Mary Edith Clifford Alumni Dance Concert on Saturday, November 4, at 8 PM. The return of alumni performers to the beloved Roble Dance Studio is a tradition that originated to support the commission of Alumni Choreographers to set work on current Stanford students. The concert is also a chance to see a variety of dance styles that have kept Stanford graduates dancing for years after they graduate.

This year's Mary Edith Alumni Choreographer is Brittany Brown. Her work Simultaneous Solos will be seen danced by her dance company in the concert. Brittany is the Director of the Summerfest/dance, the manager of ODC Theater, and is the director and choreographer for Dance Ceres, all in San Francisco. Also returning to perform will be Brenton Cheng, who while working towards his Master's in Engineering at Stanford began a dance career in the Bay Area, where he now lives, teaches and performs, as well as teaching internationally. Lisa Burnett, MA '76 will present some of her lyrical phrases, and Alexis Mian, '94, will perform a newly created piece with live music.

David Popalisky, a Stanford graduate 1980 and now a professor in Dance at Santa Clara University will perform sections of his latest evening length work on the many humorous and perhaps less humorous sides of fatherhood.

The concert will have the expert tapping of Charlotte Williams, the beautiful vintage displays of Danse Libre, and the contemporary social dance derived performances of Decadance.
