Stanford Emeritus Prof. Calvin F. Quate will give the Physics/Applied Physics colloquium (combined with the Electronics & Optics Seminar) on the topic of Probe Microscopes. His talk will review the progress over the last decade, show that the present day instruments are capable of imaging single atoms, and illustrate the power of this instrument operating in modalities other than imaging.
