Riding the Currents of the Wilding Wind: Performance Lecture by Virginia Grise
in conversation with Samer Al-Saber (TAPS) and featuring Jonathan Rosa (GSE) and Rose Salseda (Art & Art History) and María Zurita Ontiveros (PhD, TAPS)
From sharp shooters to earthmovers, roaming dogs, helicopters in the sky, quarantines, and men that fly, playwright and producer Virginia Grise chronicles the process of adapting Helena María Viramontes' epic novel Their Dogs Came with Them in a medium security women's prison. She will also speak about her recent collaboration with musician Martha Gonzalez, a concept album and concert entitled Riding the Currents of the Wilding Wind. The lecture and stage reading will be interwoven with excerpts from the novel and songs from the album.
