For the fourth year in a row, the Next Generation Faculty Symposium is bringing together phenomenal researchers in the broad field of quantitative biological and biomedical sciences. The symposium will showcase research on topics ranging from biomechanics to evolution presented by speakers with demonstrated excellence in research and a commitment to enhancing equity and inclusion in STEM. Since, 2020, 15 NextGen speakers have accepted tenure track positions and 7 participants have joined the faculties at Berkeley, Stanford, and UCSF.
This year, the event will feature 10-minute live-streamed talks from selected late-stage graduate students and postdoctoral fellows. These researchers have applied prior to this event and were paired with faculty mentors with similar research interests who can provide 1:1 mentorship surrounding the faculty job search process. Past participants have successfully launched independent labs at a variety of institutions across the country, providing a rich network of fellow star scientists and helping to fortify a flourishing community of faculty of color in the SF Bay Area.
