DESCRIPTION:Join us for the 13th Annual Stephen H. Schneider Memorial Lectu
 re hosted by Students for a Sustainable Stanford! \n\nFrom ‘Discernible’ to
  ‘Unequivocal’: The Arc of History in Climate Change Attribution Science\n\
 nThis year\, we invited Dr. Ben Santer\, Fowler Distinguished Scholar in Re
 sidence at the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution\, as our lecturer. In a
 ddition to having been one of Dr. Schneider’s close friends\, Dr. Santer is
  a renowned climate scientist who has helped to reshape the way we understa
 nd climate change. He was the lead author of the IPCC report chapter that p
 roved climate change was significantly influenced by human activities.\n\nI
 n his lecture\, “From ‘Discernible’ to ‘Unequivocal’: The Arc of History in
  Climate Change Attribution Science\,” he discussed his contributions to th
 e IPCC report and his work on human fingerprinting\, which is used to ident
 ify specific patterns of warming in the atmosphere\, ocean\, and land that 
 can be directly linked to human activity. He also honored Dr. Schneider by 
 discussing his contributions to attribution science and understanding signa
 l-to-noise ratios which revolutionized climate science.\n\nThe Schneider Le
 cture is held annually in honor of Dr. Stephen H. Schneider\, Stanford prof
 essor and world-renowned climate scientist. This event was hosted by Studen
 ts for a Sustainable Stanford and sponsored by the Stanford Woods Institute
