Event Details:
Stanford is excited to host its inaugural 3 Minute Thesis (3MT) competition, which celebrates graduate student scholarship, cultivates students’ academic, presentation, and research communication skills and supports students’ capacity to effectively explain their research in three minutes, in a language appropriate to a lay audience.
Informational Workshop: Join us for a dynamic workshop where participants will learn more about 3MT, and explore strategies used in winning 3MTs to gain ideas for crafting your own presentation. Helen Lie, lecturer in the Program in Writing and Rhetoric and Oral Communication, will guide you through essential aspects including talk structure, explanatory techniques, and the characteristics of engaging titles and visuals. During this workshop, you'll enjoy some refreshments* while learning more about the competition and having a chance to ask questions about the process.
Application Deadline: The application for the 3MT closes on January 19, 2025. For eligibility criteria and submission details, visit 3mt.stanford.edu.
Questions? Contact the 3MT team at 3minutethesis@stanford.edu.
Note: This workshop is in-person only, with no virtual attendance option.
*Refreshments available on a first-come, first-served basis.
