Event Details:
One of today’s most widely respected voices tackling multiracial and complex social identities, American Studies alum Danzy Senna is the author of six critically acclaimed books of fiction and nonfiction, including the groundbreaking modern classic Caucasia and, most recently, the bestseller Colored Television, which was named a New York Times Notable Book of 2024 and praised as “brilliant…of-the-moment” (Kirkus), “the New Great American Novel” (LA Times).
In this conversation – led by Stanford Professor Michele Elam – we’ll explore questions of race, identity, and representation, while also probing relationships between art and entertainment, humor and provocation in Senna’s writing. We’ll also ask how Senna’s time as a Stanford student has informed her work.
