Accelerating the Startup and Innovation Ecosystem in the Philippines: Utilizing National Innovation Policies and Investments toImpact the Lives of 120M People Everyday

Earl Valencia, Co-Author of the “Startup Mindsets: A Blueprint to Thrive in an Innovation-Driven and Globally Connected World”, will cover the current state of the Philippine startup ecosystem, national innovation policies, and their impact on entrepreneurship. He will also discuss strategies for scaling innovation, insights from his book “Startup Mindsets,” and how government investments can drive meaningful change for a large population.

Earl is a venture-backed startup founder, investor, and corporate innovation executive that has worked in Silicon Valley, New York, and Southeast Asia In 2023, he was appointed by the President of the Philippines as an Executive Member of the National Innovation Council representing the Business Sector. His career spans roles on Wall Street with Bridgewater Associates and Charles Schwab, as well as leadership positions in enterprise tech at Cisco, VMWare, and Dell EMC. At 29, he became VP of Corporate Development and Innovation at Smart-PLDT. He also co-founded Manila-based incubator IdeaSpace, the leading incubator and accelerator based in Manila. Earl has been recognized as a World Economic Forum Young Global Leader and one of the Ten Outstanding Young Men and Women of the Philippines and was also featured in the NASDAQ Times Square Billboard for being selected in NASDAQ Centers Milestone Makers program. Earl holds degrees from Boston University (Summa Cum Laude), Cornell, and Stanford, and currently teaches global leadership at Sacred Heart University and the Asian Institute of Management.
