Looking to harness AI to streamline your research workflow? This workshop introduces the architecture and applications of large language models (LLMs) and shows you how to use them effectively and responsibly in academic research. We’ll cover common use cases, capabilities and limitations, and key ethical considerations. Topics include data preprocessing, strategies for working with tabular data, and evaluation approaches for LLM-driven research tasks. You’ll also gain hands-on experience with Stanford’s AI Playground API. By the end, you’ll have the knowledge, practical skills, and sample code to integrate AI into your research workflow.
This workshop is intended for researchers with programming experience who want in-depth knowledge of LLMs. If you’re new to coding, we recommend taking Text Analysis with Python first.
Registration is required and limited to current Stanford affiliates on a first-come, first-served basis. A waitlist will open once all spots are filled.
This is an in-person, interactive session. Please bring your laptop, and your Stanford ID or a valid government-issued ID for library access.
