DESCRIPTION:Join us for a casual conversation over boba with Livien Yin. Wo
 rking in painting and sculpture\, Liven Yin has a research-driven approach
  to creating imaginative reconstructions of contemporary subjects alongsid
 e historical Asian Americans and their environments. Livien Yin: Thirsty i
 s on view at the Cantor Arts Center through February 2\, 2025 and is the f
 irst museum solo exhibition of the work of Brooklyn-based artist Livien Yi
 n\, a 2019 Stanford MFA. In their paintings\, Yin often casts their friend
 s as models\, collapsing the distance between the past and present to crea
 te new connective threads between Asian Americans across generations. The 
 artist draws from historic photographs of Chinese immigrants and stages im
 agined vignettes in the absence of visual records\, using the gaps in thes
 e archival sources as fertile ground to envision possible realities.\n\nRS

 n! Art and Boba Talks are informal chats meant to be a welcoming space for
  students to engage with practicing arts professionals to learn more about
  working in the arts\, what an art practice looks like\, and/or to ask any
  questions you might have in your journey as an aspiring arts professional
 ! We also welcome any folks who simply love art and want to join for a cas
 ual conversation over boba\, no arts background required :)\n\nThis event 
 is open to Stanford students only. Boba is limited to the first 20 RSVPs.\
