Join us for fun and free art making and live musical performances outdoors on the lawn between the Cantor Arts Center and the Anderson Collection.

ART for ALL Family Day is a celebration for all families and ages. Engage with art at the Stanford museums through free hands-on art activities and live music outside on the lawn plus story time and a scavenger hunt in the galleries! Our Spring Family Day activities will be inspired by the Cantor’s new exhibition Second Nature: Photography in the Age of the Anthropocene and Handle with Care, as well as Anderson’s Permanent Collection. Space is limited. Please register for either the morning or afternoon artmaking session.

Art Activities at the Cantor Arts Center

• Make a Photo Collage: Create a photo collage inspired by Second Nature: Photography in the Age of the Anthropocene. Discover how artists create and assemble images to reflect human impact on the global climate. Ages: 6 and up. Younger children may need assistance.
• Make a Clay Vessel: Craft a unique clay vessel using coiling techniques, inspired by the exhibition Handle with Care. Shape a pot, vase, bowl, or container, and finish by adding a handle for a personal touch. Ages: 6 and up. Younger children may need assistance.
• Make a Plant or Animal from Recycled Materials: Use recycled materials to build a flower, plant, animal, or any imaginative creation. Experiment with tape, pipe cleaners, and glue to bring your idea to a work of art. Ages: 3 and up. Younger children may need assistance.

Art Activities at the Anderson Collection

• How Would You Color These Works? Step into the minds of artists Ulrike Müller and Claudia Wieser. Use coloring sheets to imagine how you would color works through the coloring sheet. Ages: 3 and up.
• Create Your Own Stacking Geometric Sculpture! Build and decorate your own 3D sculpture with colorful paper cubes and pyramids inspired by Arlene Shechet’s Snow Day. Ages: 6 and up. Younger children may need assistance.
• Decorate a Daruma Doll: Design your own abstract Daruma doll, a personal lucky charm, inspired by Masako Miki’s Persevering Daruma Doll. Ages: All ages. Parent/guardian supervision is recommended for children under 3 years.
• The Journey Continues! Crossword Puzzle: Test your art knowledge with a fun crossword puzzle featuring works from The Journey Continues, An Expanded Lens, and the permanent collection. The first 10 winners will receive a special gift! Ages: 8 and up.

Story Time & Scavenger Hunt

• Story Time: Listen to engaging stories in both the Cantor and Anderson galleries.
• Scavenger Hunt: Explore the galleries and discover art in a fun and interactive way.

Parking

Free visitor parking is available along Lomita Drive as well as on the first floor of the Roth Way Garage Structure, located at the corner of Campus Drive West and Roth Way at 345 Campus Drive, Stanford, CA 94305. From the Palo Alto Caltrain station, the Cantor Arts Center is about a 20-minute walk.

Disability parking is located along Lomita Drive near the main entrance of the Cantor Arts Center. Additional disability parking is located on Museum Way and in Parking Structure 1 (Roth Way & Campus Drive). Please click here to view the disability parking and access points.

The main entrance of the Cantor Arts Center (Lomita Drive) is not accessible. The accessible entrance is down a pathway just to the left of the main entrance stairs. Just inside the accessible entrance, equipped with a power-operated door, an enclosed wheelchair lift provides access to the 1st floor main lobby.
