Event Details:
Join us for a casual conversation over boba with artist Sofía Gallisá Muriente, in conjunction with the show Celaje (Cloudscape) on view at the Cantor Arts Center through May 19, 2024. Celaje (Cloudscape) is a 41-minute video piece that explores the connection between recent natural disasters and Puerto Rico’s colonial history. It incorporates home movies, recordings of the artist’s grandmother, and post-disaster footage, serving as an elegy for impermanence and the impact of the tropical climate on historical records.
Learn more about Sofía’s practice and how she uses text, image, and archive as medium and subject to resist colonial erasures. This event is open to Stanford students only. Boba is limited to the first 20 RSVPs.
