Event Details:
Box of Sand is a devised physical theater/dance project. In the sandbox of a theater, we will kick the director out, shoot the sun down, pop the moon, and watch a flame grow as we fall into the chaos of our bodies. Using seeping sand as a not-so-subtle analogy of time, the show explores the realm of visceral storytelling through movement compositions. We will experiment with visual poetry, contact improv, soundscaping, stage installation, and PLAYING IN THE SAND (a rare opportunity for the theater stage…).
The performer perches on a bridge between acting and dancing; instead of crossing the bridge, they jump into the river. We will build our choreography collaboratively as an ensemble; all humans are welcome regardless of experience, style, identity, and artistic background.
