This event is over.

Event Details:

Join us for an evening with writer, activist, and educator Aya De Leon, as she reflects on June Jordan’s groundbreaking Poetry for the People and its enduring lessons for art, scholarship, and organizing. This gathering kicks off our Intro to the Institute for Diversity in the Arts (IDA) series, where throughout the quarter we’ll connect with scholars, artists, and organizers whose work moves us toward collective liberation. Stanford students can take the sign up for the class at  AFRICAAM 10, CSRE 10, TAPS 10. Select classes like this one are open to the public.

Together, we’ll explore IDA’s legacy and the movements for social transformation—past and present—that remind us how culture is a site of resistance and renewal.
