Diversity, equity, inclusion, belonging…these words have been floating around more and more over the past few years. But what do they mean, really, and what are the implications of these words for the graduate student experience?
In this two-part workshop, staff from the Office for Inclusion, Belonging & Intergroup Communication (IBIC) will guide you through self-reflection, interactive activities, and tangible skill-building to help you be a change agent in your own classrooms, labs, and communities.
Workshops are designed and led by:
- Ester Sihite, director of IBIC
- Zayna Seyedi, assistant director of IBIC
- Jeannie Yamazaki, program coordinator
- Adrian Vega, program coordinator
- Sofia Portillo, graduate student
Details:
Open to enrolled graduate students at any stage in any discipline or degree program. Postdocs will be accepted if space is available, but priority is given to graduate students. If you have any questions, please reach out to vpgeapplications@stanford.edu.
Beyond Buzzwords: DEI and the Graduate Student Experience is an in-person, two-part workshop. Session dates are Wednesday, February 21, and Wednesday, February 28, from 4-6:30PM. Space is limited. Due to the workshop's interactive format, full participation in all two sessions is required. Dinner will be served.
If you are accepted to this workshop, you must confirm your place by submitting a Student Participation Fee Agreement, which authorizes VPGE to charge $50 to your Stanford bill – only if you do not fully participate in the event. You will receive a link to the Agreement and instructions if you are offered a place.
Application deadline: Sun., FEB. 18, 2024 @ 11:59PM PT
