Inspired by the spirit of Jamaican reggae legend, Bob Marley, Bob Marley from Kodihalli explores the complex realities of Dalit youth navigating urban India’s seemingly liberal yet deeply exclusionary spaces. Through a mix of Brechtian theatre and Kannada musical interludes, the play examines the burden and politics of identity in a caste-ridden society. (Screening of a recorded performance) The screening will be followed by an online Q&A with the cast and crew: Bharath Dingri, Chandrashekara K, Lakshman KP, Mariyamma Chudi, Shwetha Rani H K. Jangama Collective is a Bangalore-based group of theatre artists with diverse cultural backgrounds who believe in creating cultural and political awareness choosing theatre as their way of expression. As an extension of this, the group has engaged itself in creative processes like education, literature, publishing, cinema and social struggles. This event is hosted by the Caste, Culture, and Aesthetics Global Humanities Research Workshop co-sponsored by Stanford Global Studies, the Stanford Humanities Center, and the Center For South Asia.
