Branner Earth Sciences Library & Map Collection exhibit series: Oceans
From the complexity of deep trenches to the shifting dynamics of sea ice, Earth’s oceans are vital to understanding our planet’s past, present, and future. In the 2025–2026 academic year, Branner Library’s exhibit series will feature ocean geology, biology, physics, chemistry, and mapping, highlighting their roles in regulating the climate, sustaining biodiversity, and connecting global systems.
Explore Earth’s oceans’ complex biological and ecological systems that regulate climate and support life.
In December and January, discover one of Earth’s most significant yet understudied ecosystems. Examine the central role of Antarctic krill in structuring Southern Ocean food webs, and explore the physiological and ecological adaptations that enable life to persist in one of the planet’s coldest, windiest, and most isolated marine environments.
A selection of books, maps, and e-resources are displayed on the library's main floor exhibit space. The exhibit is available for viewing Monday through Friday during regular library open hours. Please note that the library will be closed for Winter Closure from December 21, 2025 through January 4, 2026.
Check out past exhibits and subscribe to the Branner Library Newsletter.
