The Building Africa's Cities Summit (BACS) will be held at the Stanford King Center on Friday, June 27, and Saturday, June 28, 2025. The summit will bring together practitioners, administrators, and academics to chart new ways forward for African cities at this critical inflection point in their growth. 

The summit will coincide with the public launch of a digital platform, designed to ensure that our conversations continue beyond the event. The platform will also engage residents of African cities, fostering dialogue on grassroots actions that can be taken to improve cities.

BACS and its digital platform will adopt an interdisciplinary approach, prioritizing open and honest dialogue in a safe environment. We hope that our conversations will inform planners and government administrators with critiques of current development patterns that seem to circulate only in academic circles. We also hope that the presence of municipalities will help academics and practitioners better tailor solutions to local contexts.
