Dr. Shaili Johri is a postdoctoral researcher working on shark genetics and conservation across the Pacific and Indian Oceans. Her work seeks to discover how sharks live and move across wide ocean expenses as a way of understanding and protecting these iconic marine predators. She also plays a leadership role in numerous international conservation organizations.Shaili will talk about her pioneering work using genomics to track diversity and stability of shark populations in the face of illegal fisheries in the Indian and Pacific Ocean regions. Further, she will discuss her capacity building efforts with local communities to identify and conserve shark nurseries and hotspots.
