Event Details:
Our Spring Quarter Wildfire Research and Policy Seminar Series continues with a lecture and Q&A session wth Michael Wara, Director of the Energy and Climate Policy Program at Stanford. He will speak on the California policy responses to the L.A. wildfires
Abstract
The January 7, 2025 wildfires in Pacific Palisades and Altadena were among the costliest and most destructive in California history. They both highlighted learnings and successes since the modern wildfire era began in 2017 as well as continued gaps in our strategy. Wara will discuss the policy response to date from California government as well as the key challenges that remain for California to address the wildfire challenge that it faces today as well as the one that it will confront as climate conditions continue to predictably evolve over the next decade.
