Speakers

Madihah Akhter is a researcher and product inclusion specialist at PayPal. On any given day, you can find her advocating for customer centricity in product design, measuring inclusion efforts for organizational impact, and operationalizing inclusive processes. She has an extensive background in inclusion & diversity consulting and higher education, including a Ph.D. in history and gender studies from Stanford University as well as leadership experience directing belonging intervention programs for underrepresented students. Outside of work, Madihah can be found hiking in the Santa Cruz mountains, trying new recipes, and reading fiction.

Daniel Clayton Greer is a fifth generation Colorado native who attended Stanford University where he studied international relations and environmental engineering. Daniel began his career at Walt Disney Imagineering R&D working on sustainability issues. While at Disney, he produced updates to a live interactive character attraction, Turtle Talk, in Anaheim, Orlando, and Tokyo. In late 2017, he moved to Japan to join Universal Creative and worked as the associate producer on Mario Kart: Koopa’s Challenge. Following Mario Kart, Daniel spent a year in Beijing, China working on Universal on Parade. Daniel returned to Japan as the Producer of Donkey Kong Country, due to open in 2024.

Daniel Cruz, born and raised in Honduras, holds a B.A. in international relations, ’11 and an M.A. in Latin American studies, ’12 from Stanford. After graduation, he started working in tech in San Francisco and has since acquired 10+ years of international experience working for various tech startups / scaleups in sectors like enterprise software, fintech, and AI in cities like Bogotá, Santiago, Barcelona, Stockholm, and Berlin. Daniel is now head of growth of Maverick, a VC backed AI startup founded by Stanford Alumni.

Lalita du Perron is the associate director of the Center for South Asia. She received her Ph.D. from the Department of the Languages and Cultures of South Asia at SOAS at the University of London. Her monograph Hindi Poetry in a Musical Genre: Thumri Lyrics was published by Routledge in 2007, followed in 2013 by the co-authored The Songs of Khyal, published by Manohar. Her broad research interests range from song texts and courtesan performance in colonial India to gender and LGBTQ issues in contemporary South Asia. She was recently published in a special issue of QED: A Journal in GLBTQ Worldmaking, “Queer Forum on Navigating Normativity Between Field and Academe in India.” An article from her current project on sexual harassment culture in North India, “Eve-teasing in song: coercion, consent, Krishna, and courtesans” is in process.
