This event is over.

Event Details:

  • Location: Zoom (link provided upon registration)
  • Date and Time: 1PM–4PM, Wednesday, October 15, 2025
  • Instructor: Alex Manchester (Mathematics, Statistics & Computational Sciences Librarian) & Zack Lannes (Engineering Librarian for Research & Teaching Support)

This is the first of a two-day introductory workshop on Python. During this workshop we will start by learning the fundamentals of Python and coding in general, such as variable assignment and working with different types of data. This will lead to a discussion on how to evaluate and visualize tabular data.

This is an interactive workshop! Please bring your laptop with the required software pre-installed. Detailed installation instructions are available here. Contact the instructors if you need help with installation.

Please register to attend. Registration is exclusively open to current Stanford affiliates and will be offered on a first-come, first-served basis. Given the limited space, a waitlist will be available once all spots are filled.

This session is part of the week-long virtual Carpentries sequence. An in-person option will be offered the preceding week from 9AM to 12PM.
