DESCRIPTION:This talk examines how global catastrophe and climate risks are
financed and managed through the insurance\, reinsurance\, and insurance-
linked securities (ILS) markets. Dr. Park will outline key natural perils
driving losses\, discuss how climate change is reshaping their frequency a
nd severity\, and highlight the role of ILS in channeling investor capital
toward disaster resilience. Using examples such as hurricane risk and ren
ewable energy revenue protection\, Dr. Park will illustrate how financial
instruments adapt to emerging climate risks. The discussion concludes wit
h reflections on the uncertainties of climate impacts and the need for fun
damental shifts in how society manages and mitigates catastrophe risk.
