 ing Kindness meditation\, grounded in trauma-informed principles and roote
 d in community healing. This guided practice fosters self-compassion\, emo
 tional safety\, and connection—honoring both personal resilience and col
 lective well-being.\n\nThis guided practice is one of two sessions led by 
 Atman Smith in the Contemplation By Design Summit. You are welcome to atte
 nd one or both sessions. The other session is a lecture titled Empowering 
 Communities Through Contemplative Practices in Schools on October 16th. \n
 \nAtman Smith is one of the co-founders of the Holistic Life Foundation. S
 ince 2001\, he has been teaching yoga and mindfulness to a diverse populat
 ion\, including underserved and high-risk youth in drug treatment centers\
 , wellness centers\, detention centers\, mental crisis facilities\, corpor
 ations and colleges world wide. A native of Baltimore\, Atman attended the
  University of Maryland\, College Park\, where he was a letter award winne
 r for the university's men's basketball team. He graduated with a B.A. in 
 Criminology and Criminal Justice. Atman's work with the Holistic Life Foun
 dation has been featured on Steven Spielberg's Discovery Channel ‘Why We
  Hate’\, Good Morning America\, NBC Nightly News\, CNN\, and CBS\, as we
 ll as in O\, The Oprah Magazine\, The Washington Post\, Upworthy\, Mindful
  Magazine\, and many other Publications. In 2024\, Baltimore Magazine name
 d Atman and the other co-founders of the Holistic Life Foundation "Game Ch
 angers." He is also a published author in the Journal of Abnormal Childhoo
 d Psychology\, and co-authored "Let Your Light Shine". Smith also partnere
 d with the Johns Hopkins School of Public Health\, and Penn State's Preven
 tion Research Center on the first randomized control study on the effectiv
 eness of yoga and mindfulness on urban youth.\n\nThis sessions is part of
