 ng\n\nThe inaugural Center for Neural Data Science (CNDS) Data Visualizati
 on Showcase will celebrate outstanding visual communication of neural data
  at Stanford\, highlighting the technical and aesthetic decisions that con
 tribute to strong scientific visualizations. Through this event\, we aim t
 o spotlight compelling work created by Stanford neuroscientists and to pro
 vide a platform for them to share their research. \n\n \n\nFinalist Mini-T
 alks\n\nSelected finalists will each give a mini-talk at this competition 
 showcase event. Each finalist will present for up to 10 minutes on the sci
 entific question their visualization addresses\, how the data were acquire
 d\, and what tools and techniques were used to create the visualizations. 
 Finalists will be encouraged to share their visualization code with the co
 mmunity via GitHub or GitLab.\n\nCriteria and Submission Process\n\nEligib
 ility: Submissions are open to all Stanford neuroscience researchers\, fro
 m undergraduate students to senior faculty. \n\nSubmissions: Entrants can 
 submit individual visualizations via this online form. The form requires n
 ame\, research position\, lab / PI\, a visualization title\, and a brief d
 escription of what the visualization shows and how it was created. Entrant
 s must confirm that they will be able to present the work at this Showcase
  event if selected as a finalist\, that the visualization does not contain
  sensitive or restricted data\, and whether the CNDS has permission to fea
 ture the visualization in internal or public outreach materials. Each part
 icipant is limited to one entry. Submissions will close on Friday May 8th.
  \n\nFinalist Selection: A panel of assessors will review submissions and 
 select four to six finalists based on the clarity\, scientific value\, nov
 elty\, and aesthetic value of each visualization (see rubric here). Finali
 sts will be notified two weeks before the event.
