Event Details:

Chief Adjuah (formerly Christian Scott) has jazz in his DNA, having grown in one of the leading jazz families of New Orleans. He is the grandson of legendary Big Chief Donald Harrison Sr. and the nephew of jazz innovator and legendary saxophonist-composer, NEA Jazz Master Big Chief Donald Harrison, Jr. Steeped in jazz history and tradition, and a master of jazz trumpet, Chief Adjuah is taking not only his music into astonishingly beautiful new realms of African-inspired sound, but also his horns as he’s designed several ground-breaking instruments. He’s a true musical visionary focused on the power of his music, which has garnered comparisons to Miles Davis from the press. Chief Ajduah’s music truly transcends boundaries, which is one of the many reasons he has performed with artists as diverse and powerful as Prince, Thom Yorke, McCoy Tyner, Marcus Miller, Eddie Palmieri, and Mos Def — among many others.

This event is part of the 2023 Stanford Jazz Festival.
