About the screening:

Homelands (2020)

A girl born in the former Yugoslavia returns to a mountain village her grandmother fled during the Greek Civil War. The place has become a trendy ski resort and no longer corresponds to her family memories.

Q&A with filmmaker Jelena Maksimović will follow the screening.

Jelena Maksimović teaches in the Digital Arts Department of the Faculty for Media and Communication in Belgrade. She edited numerous films, including The Load (2018), You Have the Night (2018), and Landscapes of Resistance (2021), which screened in Cannes, Venice, Berlinale, Locarno, Rotterdam, and many other festivals. Maksimović directed two shorts and two feature films: Taurunum Boy (2018) and Homelands(2020), which premiered at Cinéma du Réel and FID Marseille, respectively. In addition to work on film, she is also active in the fields of video, spatial installation, and theatrical performance.
