Event Details:

Our health equity innovation series event will be November 18 from 11:30-12:30 pm PST, where we will be hearing from two of our Biodesign innovation fellows, Charlene Tang and Emeka Amamdikwa, about their work in bridging the funding gap for population health screening innovations in the UK and using low-cost communication innovations to increase health care access in Nigeria.

Speaker: Emeka John Amamdikwa

Emeka is a 2025-26 Stanford Biodesign Innovation Fellow with a background in medicine and human physiology. He is also deeply involved in health humanitarian work across Africa through his NGO, Sustainable Health Initiative Africa. He will discuss his lessons on using low-cost process innovations to increase blood donation to address shortages, especially for the treatment of women who have experienced postpartum hemorrhage in the Gambia.

Speaker: Charlene Tang

Charlene is a 2025-26 Stanford Biodesign Innovation Fellow with a background in biochemistry, business development, and early-stage venture capital. She will share insights from her work as the first commercial lead at Cyted Health, bringing to the clinic a novel diagnostic test for earlier cancer detection and redesigning the Gl care pathway. From how she built strategic partnerships for commercial growth across the UK to securing non-dilutive funding to shift from hospital-to community-based care, and escaped pilotitis to national adoption.
