Yes We Can Cure Kidney Disease: Identifying Molecular Targeted Therapies Across Disciplines and Continents

SPEAKER
Matthias Kretzler, MD
Warner-Lambert/Parke-Davis Professor of Internal Medicine/Nephrology and Computational Medicine and Bioinformatics, University of Michigan Medical School

SESSION DESCRIPTION
We are in a renaissance of kidney research finally delivering molecular targeted therapies to our patients. This session will discuss how we got here and where we are headed, starting from global research networks designed to define molecular disease drivers, developing tissue centered approaches to build comprehensive multi-scalar kidney disease atlases and now using these knowledge networks to define the mode of action of our new therapies in kidney biopsy trials.

EDUCATION GOALS

  • Identify opportunities for implementation of precision medicine strategies for CKD.
  • Summarize need to develop mechanistic disease concepts for CKD.
  • Understand how biomarkers can be used in kidney diseases trials and care.
