Book Discussion with Author and SLS Professor David Sklansky and SLS  Professor Jennifer Chacon

Join us for a discussion between Stanford Law School Faculty David Sklansky and Jennifer Chacón about Professor Sklansky's new book, Criminal Justice in Divided America: Police, Punishment, and the Future of Our Democracy (Harvard University Press, 2025). The book shows how failures in our criminal legal system, including policing and prisons, have contributed to fractures in our democracy, and identifies practical and feasible solutions to repairing both. Professor Sklanskyteaches on a range of subjects related to criminal law, serves as the faculty co-director of the Stanford Criminal Justice Center, and is a former federal prosecutor. Professor Chacón researches issues that arise at the nexus of immigration law, constitutional law, and criminal law and procedure and is the co-author of Legal Phantoms (Stanford University Press, 2024).
