For years, doctors and researchers have talked about the quest to increase longevity – how long we live. The newest research, however, is focused on Healthspan, which is how long we live well, free of chronic disease and disability. While many factors play a role in increasing Healthspan, the foods we consume or avoid have a major impact in reducing the risk of chronic disease and slowing down cellular aging.
While “eat this, not that” advice abounds on the Internet, this class is based upon current scientific research related to nutrition and healthy aging. During our three online sessions, we will explore macronutrients, micronutrients, and supplements, helping to separate fact from urban legend. Walk away with confirmation of what you already do well to support healthy aging and a few ways to improve your diet so you can avoid disease risk and look and feel your best at any age.

Instructor: Sally Duplantier, MS, is a gerontologist and healthspan educator focused on helping people “live their best life longer.” She recently graduated with a Master of Science degree in gerontology from USC and has a certificate in nutrition science from Stanford. In 2021, Sally published a paper on the link between diet and cognitive health with Dr. Christopher Gardner.
