DESCRIPTION:Long-standing barriers to participation in the clean energy eco
nomy have produced well-mapped landscapes of underserved communities\, yet
even after key financial barriers are removed\, additional cultural and c
apacity challenges remain acute. With sustained investment in a seeding st
rategy\, community anchor institutions can host revenue-generating microgr
ids that fuel local job creation and hiring\, improve community resilience
to hazards\, and mitigate cultural barriers to adoption of clean energy u
pgrades. This seminar will illuminate insights about the essential role of
cultural competency and community seeding alongside more accessible finan
cial solutions to accelerate building energy upgrades for rapid decarboniz
ation.\n\nDr. Anthony Kinslow II ('19) is the founder and CEO of Gemini En
ergy Solutions\, which provides investment-grade energy audits for small c
ommercial buildings. Dr. Kinslow also collaborates with community anchor i
nstitutions on the design and development of microgrids for both revenue g
eneration and resiliency. In addition to being a founding member of the Gr
een For All Business Council\, Dr. Kinslow is a co-founder of Stanford cou
rses on energy justice\, including Racial Equity in Energy and Quest for I
 nclusive Clean Energy Economies.
