Experiments in Learning Events Series

Presented by Professor Jennifer Pan, Department of Communications

How can we build assignments that work in the context of AI? How can we give students the confidence to do critical analysis in a situation where there are no clear-cut answers? In her course COMM 158/258: Censorship and Propaganda in the Digital Age, Professor Jennifer Pan has introduced new assignments that build on students’ individual interests in the field to bring out their best work.

Come and join us to learn how the “case snapshot” and final “instruction manual” assignments were tailored to students’ personal interests while also fostering accountability. Professor Pan will share her experiences with implementation, and we will discuss shared challenges for developing novel assignments.

We look forward to welcoming you to this kick-off event for 2026.
