DESCRIPTION:Kumi Naidoo\, a world reknowned human rights and environmental 
 justice activist\, is the former Secretary-General of Amnesty Internationa
 l and also the first person from the Global South to lead Greenpeace Inter
 national.  At Stanford\, Dr. Naidoo is currently the Payne Distinguished L
 ecturer at the Centre on Democracy\, Development and the Rule of Law\, for
  which he delivered a dedicated lecture entitled "Creative Maladjustment &
  Climate Change."\n\nAs a freedom fighter in South Africa\, Kumi served as
  Head of Training at the Independent Electoral Commission\, the body that 
 oversaw South Africa’s first democratic elections in April 1994 and serv
 ed as one of its spokespersons. Among other organizations Dr. Naidoo serve
 s\, he is the Founding Chair of Africans Rising\, a pan-African movement o
 f people and organizations working for justice\, peace and dignity.\n\nAn 
 Oxford University alumnus\, he is also an Honorary Fellow of Magdalen Coll
 ege and a Professor of Practice at ASU's School of Global Management.\n\nT
 en co-hosts are collaborating to extend the invitation to this extraordina
 ry opportunity for the campus community to engage Dr. Kumi Naidoo in this
