DESCRIPTION:Legal journalism has long treated the Supreme Court as a neutra
l arbiter of justice. In 2024\, the judiciary can hardly be bothered to ma
intain the charade. By exposing the shortcomings of existing legal structu
res and methods of interpretation\, and interrogating the law's role in ma
intaining societal injustice\, legal commentators can help empower the pub
lic to fight for reform. This talk will focus on Madiba Dennie's experienc
es writing about the law\, and the relationship between legal commentary\,
everyday Americans\, and efforts to hold power to account.\n\nSpeaker Bio
