 cholar\nMoving Towards Indigenous Food Sovereignty – Indigenous communit
 ies and Tribal nations sharing borders with the United States are working 
 hard to create healthy\, thriving food systems. Unfortunately\, structural
 \, economic\, and societal barriers make it difficult to exercise food sov
 ereignty. We'll talk about a number of pressing issues and folks working f
 or solutions. \n\nKarli grew up on a family farm near Prospect\, NC\, and 
 aspires to advance food sovereignty and economic development for Native pe
 oples through sustainable agriculture.\n\nJocelyn Breeland\, Chief Communi
 cations and Marketing Officer for Residential & Dining Enterprise\nBlack F
 armers: Together Toward Justice and Equity – The Black Farmers Initiativ
 e\, led by R&DE’s Stanford Food Institute and Oakland-based partner Farm
 s to Grow\, Inc.\, works with farmers and distributors to reverse the effe
 cts of generations of racism by helping Black Farmers enjoy the same suppo
 rt and market access as other farmers. In this session\, Jocelyn will outl
 ine the Black Farmers Initiative\, discuss the discrimination Black farmer
 s still face today\, and the ways the initiative is successfully advancing
  toward equity and justice.\n\nJocelyn is a member of the 2023 and 2024 St
 anford IDEAL Honor Rolls. She is also an alumna of Stanford University\, w
