Event Details:
Through the support of Stanford Arts’ Burt McMurtry Arts Initiative Fund, Stanford Synthetic Biology, and Stanford Bioengineering, the From Petri Dish to Palette: Exploring Bacterial-Based Paint exhibition will showcase the artworks created by participants of the Grow-Your-Own Biopigments workshop, led by Professor Jenn Brophy and Helen Dang in October 2024.
A diverse group from 14 different Stanford departments—faculty, postdocs, graduate and undergraduate students, and staff—have come together to learn synthetic biology techniques to grow their own fluorescent protein-based pigments. These biopigments have been transformed into bio-paint, used to create one-of-a-kind paintings that will be featured at this event.
Please join us for this one-day exhibition and see the incredible artwork that combines the emerging field of synthetic biology and art.
Exhibition highlights include:
- Original artwork created with biopigments grown by the participants
- A reception with snacks and beverages
Admission is free and open to the public.
