 ly declassified never-seen FBI documents obtained through the Freedom of I
 nformation Act\, prize-winning Historian Lerone A. Martin reveals how J. E
 dgar Hoover and his FBI teamed up with leading white evangelicals and Cath
 olics to aid and abet the politics of white Christian nationalism. This ne
 ver told story shows how Hoover and white evangelicals and Catholics funda
 mentally transformed American religion and politics\, setting the terms fo
 r today’s domestic terrorism debates.\n\nDiscussant Jennifer Burns is As
 sociate Professor of History and focuses on twentieth century United State
 s working at the intersection of intellectual\, political\, and cultural h
 istory\, with a particular interest in ideas about the state\, markets\, a
 nd capitalism. Her first book\, Goddess of the Market: Ayn Rand and the Am
 erican Right (Oxford\, 2009)\, was an intellectual biography of the libert
 arian novelist Ayn Rand. Burns is currently finishing an intellectual biog
