Open to the Public. Presented as part of the CCRMA Colloquium Series.

Event Details:

Location: CCRMA Stage (Knoll 317), 660 Lomita Court, Stanford 94305. Free parking available on-site after 4:00pm

Join Stanford Live visiting artists fuse* for an illuminating presentation and conversation exploring their work at the nexus of art, design, data, and science. The discussion features fuse* co-founders Luca Camellini and Mattia Carretti, along with Risa Wechsler, Professor of Physics and Astrophysics and Director of the Kavli Institute for Particle Astrophysics and Cosmology. Together, they will delve into the ways each of their fields uses data to visualize the universe—from black holes to distant celestial bodies—and reflect on how artistic practice can deepen scientific understanding, and how data-driven science can, in turn, expand the possibilities of art.

This event coincides with the presentation of Dökk, presented by Stanford Live on Friday, December 5 at 7:30 PM at the Memorial Auditorium. In this immersive performance, a solo dancer journeys through shifting, otherworldly environments generated in real time by software that weaves together data drawn from social media, the musical score, and sensors capturing the performer’s heartbeat and movement. The result is a live media experience that binds human presence and digital landscape into a single, responsive world. For more information on the performance, please visit live.stanford.edu
