About Eran Bendavid

Eran Bendavid, MD MS, is an infectious diseases physician and an Associate Professor of Medicine in the Department of Medicine.  He is a senior fellow at the Woods Institute for the Environment and the Freeman Spogli Institute, and a faculty fellow at the Center for Innovation in Global Health. His scholarship explores how environments — social, political, economic, and natural — influence the health of individuals and populations living in lower-income settings. His major areas of interest include (i) the health effects of foreign assistance, (ii) the lasting and indirect effects of armed conflict, and a growing scholarship on (iii) the health consequences of climate and environmental changes in lower- and middle-income countries, especially in Sub-Saharan Africa and Asia.  He received a B.A. in chemistry and philosophy from Dartmouth College, and an M.D. from Harvard Medical School. His residency in internal medicine and fellowship in infectious diseases were completed at Stanford.
