Event Details:
Join us for this special community event featuring a sound bath performed by The Holistic Chamber of Sound at the Anderson Collection. Typically held in churches and meditation centers, a sound bath is a practice of deepening meditation that incorporates Tibetan instruments, shamanic drums, chimes, Native American flutes, and more.
The contemplative space of the gallery setting will provide a unique experience of the sound meditation journey. Participants will be immersed in artful frequencies and vibrations amidst the splendor of the artworks on display.
Participants will be asked to bring a yoga mat (or a towel) and a small pillow so that they can lie down in savasana (a relaxation pose), close their eyes, and focus on their breath, as wave after wave of sound washes over them.
Dr. Stephen Murphy-Shigematsu who teaches in the LifeWorks program within Stanford Living Education will guide an opening meditation which will be followed by the sound bath led by Guy Douglas of the Holistic Chamber of Sound. Douglas has been a gong master and sound healer for over 15 year and is also the creator of “The Breathwork Sound Bath” and “The Gong Chair.”
