Sponsored by

This event is over.

Event Details:

Climate change is reshaping the conditions that determine human health, intensifying risks from extreme heat, food and water insecurity, infectious disease, and other threats. These impacts are not distributed equally. In this Spotlight on Human and Planetary Health Speaker Series event, co-hosted by the Center for Human and Planetary Health (HPH) and Center for Innovation in Global Health (CIGH), Dr. Kris Ebi, Professor at the University of Washington and a global leader in climate and health research, will discuss how to assess climate-related health vulnerabilities and design effective, equitable adaptation strategies across diverse populations and settings.

Drawing on decades of interdisciplinary research and international policy engagement, Dr. Ebi will explore how evidence-based approaches can inform climate-resilient health systems, guide public policy, and protect those most at risk. Please join HPH and CIGH to explore the implications of this work for global health practice and opportunities for cross-sector collaboration to advance human and planetary health.

She has supported multiple countries in Central America, Europe, Africa, Asia, and the Asia Pacific in assessing their vulnerabilities and implementing adaptation policies and programs. She also co-chairs the International Committee on New Integrated Climate Change Scenarios (ICONICS), facilitating the Shared Socioeconomic Pathways.
