DESCRIPTION:Race\, identity\, the insertion and presence of the Black indiv
idual and women in contemporary society act as main drivers and questions r
aised in the work of Brazilian artist Priscila Rezende. From her own experi
ences as a Black and Latin American woman\, imposed limitations\, discrimin
ation and stereotypes are exposed in intense works of performance art\, whi
ch seek to establish with the public a direct and clear dialogue. The audie
nce is confronted by different realities\, displacing them from their posit
ions of comfort and to question their crystallized prerogatives.\n\nBrazili
an artist Priscila Rezende will present a selection of her works\, followed
by a roundtable discussion with Guilherme Foscolo (Universidade Federal do
Sul da Bahia) and Tom Winterbottom (Stanford University).\n\nRegister in a
dvance to join us on Zoom. In English. Open to the public.\n\nPresented in
the course ILAC 194G with Dr. Winterbottom. Sponsored by the Dept. of Iber
 ian and Latin American Cultures.
