Our speaker will be Chris Vance, active in Washington State politics all his adult life, and chairman of the WA Republican Party from 2001 to 2006.  He resigned his Republican Party membership in 2017, saying:  “I now consider myself an Independent. I am no longer a Republican after 36 years … For years I’ve seen the party move away from things I believed in … It didn’t begin with Trump, but he certainly accelerated the process … I just don’t agree with [the Republican Party] on 90% of the issues they talk about today.”  He remains an active commentator on national and local politics. He will address primarily national issues during this event.

Biography: Chris Vance is a public affairs consultant, a member of the management team in the King County Assessor’s office, and an adjunct faculty member at the University of Washington’s Evans School of Public Policy and Governance. He has worked with the Lincoln Project and is a Senior Fellow with the Niskanen Center. He ran as an Independent for Washington State Senate in 2022, losing to an incumbent Republican.
