Event Details:
The Latin America and Caribbean Working Group invites you to their second event with visual artist Pablo Tut (Yucatán Península, México. 1992). Pablo’s artwork spans multiple media such as drawing, sculpture, installation art, and cultural management. Primarily, Pablo works with designing spaces that expand the possibilities of perception in the public sphere—generating dynamics of spatial and ideological contrast. For example, oriels or constructions that are dislocated from the place they inhabit to create new spaces to gather around and watch.
Pablo Tut’s main interest in art production is its capacity to involve the spectator in unstable and ephemeral positions—as a way of questioning biopolitical and neo-colonial structures through situational experiences. In this talk, Pablo will present his installations created for the 13th Visual Arts Festival of Campeche and the VII Bienal of Fine Arts of Yucatan. In addition, Pablo will discuss his current work as part of the Stanford MFA.
