LexisNexis API Workshop & Demo

Sponsored by

This event is over.

Event Details:

  • Location: Zoom (link provided upon registration) & Hohbach Hall 125, Green Library
  • Date and Time: 11AM–12PM, Thursday, October 23, 2025
  • Lead Instructor: Katie Frey (Data Curator for Programmatic Access)

The LexisNexis API is a subscription-based service that allows researchers to programmatically access and text-mine NexisUni’s News and Legal News collections.  It provides access to the full text of several thousand sources for newspapers, journals, wire services, and newsletters.

This workshop will dive into crafting queries for the LexisNexis API and tools to help refine and scope your queries. We will also share boilerplate Python scripts for accessing the LexisNexis API and methods for making your LexisNexis data analysis ready. Though Python will be used for the demonstration, having familiarity with a programming language is not required to follow along. In depth orientations for using the LexisNexis API are available for those who apply for access.

Registration is required and limited to current Stanford affiliates on a first-come, first-served basis. Once capacity is reached, a waitlist will open. In-person attendees must present a Stanford ID or a valid government-issued ID for library access.
