Depression is the most common mental disorder and is more prevalent among poor people. An emerging economic literature studies the ways that depression may affect economic decision-making and contribute to intergenerational poverty. Dr. Bennett will describe recent developments in the literature and discuss his recent study of the socioeconomic impacts of depression treatment among poor adults in Karnataka, India.
