This daylong public symposium is organized around the key question: Can technology transform systems of power within culture and its institutions? A core cohort of museum directors from around the globe will be joined by experts on technology’s evolving role in shaping culture from Stanford and beyond for a series of public presentations and discussions. Organized by the Cantor Arts Center in conjunction with the Fine Arts Museums of San Francisco and András Szántó LLC.

• Sonia Lawson, Director of the Palais de Lomé in Togo
• Kamini Sawhney, Director of the Museum of Art & Photography (MAP), Bangalore, India
• Seb Chan, Director & CEO of the Australian Centre for the Moving Image, Melbourne
• Adam Banks, Faculty Director of Stanford’s Institute for Diversity in the Arts, Professor in the Graduate School of Education
• Mimi Onuoha, Brooklyn-based Nigerian-American artist creating work about a world made to fit the form of data
• Glenn Fajardo, Stanford d.school faculty member who explores how we can be creative together when we are far apart and in different cultural contexts
The program will be presented live on the Stanford campus from the Clark Center Auditorium and the Cantor Arts Center and will be live streamed via webinar. Complete schedule and full speaker bios are available here. A recording will also be shared online for later viewing.
