Event Details:
Please join us for a special multimedia workshop featuring acclaimed Zimbabwean novelist, playwright, filmmaker, poet, and activist Tsitsi Dangarembga. She will offer an interactive discussion of her producing and directing films and writing, particularly her first novel, Nervous Conditions. Originally published in 1988, the acclaimed novel chronicles the coming of age of 13-year-old Tambudzai Sigauke as she embarks on a journey of education in 1960s Rhodesia. In this workshop, we will study Dangarembga's creative process as we simultaneously discover our own. Participants are warmly invited to bring the storymaking equipment of their choice — notebooks, laptops, tablets, cameras, or other instruments — and to experiment with various artistic mediums of text, video, and sound. Light snacks and refreshments will be provided.
